Patient Preparation
Truxtun Radiology Medical Group offers a large number and variety of diagnostic examinations to our patients. Different exams have different preparation requirements, based on the type of procedure you will be having. Either your doctor's office or one of our clinical staff will let you know exactly what you need to do to get ready for your exam. Many times you will not need any special preparation at all.
To ensure the successful completion of your exam and to ensure the best possible diagnostic quality, we ask that you follow any preparation instructions carefully. Some general preparation instructions include:

If you are pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, you should let your doctor know. In most instances, x-ray exams will not be done on a pregnant patient.

If you are diabetic and taking insulin, you should ask your physician for specific instructions regarding the dosages for the day of your examination.

If you are on a medically ordered fluid-restricted diet, have kidney failure or a kidney transplant, you should discuss with your physician the preparation instructions you are asked to follow. Because of your medical condition, the instructions may need to be altered. Your physician should inform us if any change is made in the preparation.

If your exam requires you to not eat beforehand and is scheduled for the afternoon, you may have a glass or a glass and a half (8 -12 ounces) of water around 7:00 AM. Otherwise you should have nothing to eat, drink, smoke or chew after the time indicated for each prep.
