October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, American Administrative Group, our benefit administrator, has partnered with Truxtun Radiology Medical Group to enhance the Kern County mammography Program - helping women within our health benefit program receive life-saving mammograms.
Over the past 24 months, only 39% of women over the age of 40 within our health benefit program have received mammograms, compared with 75% of the California population for the same demographic. Your benefit plan covers mammograms at 100% with no co-pays or PCP referrals. That means you can take the steps necessary for early detection at no cost to you! Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women, next to skin cancer, and mammography is the single most effective method of detecting the disease early. Early detection leads to early treatment, resulting in better odds of defeating the disease.
Not only does Kern County Mammography Program provide you free mammograms, but also offers special services through Truxtun Radiology Medical Group, Bakersfield's largest radiology practice and area leader in medical imaging. Truxtun Radiology makes available to you, our members:
